Suspension Secrets Porsche 911 991/GT3/GT3RS/GT2RS Front Camber Shims Kit

Designed and manufactured in the UK from high quality stainless steel, our camber shims are the perfect upgrade for your Porsche to maximise handling potential. The anti-corrosive properties of stainless steel mean that our shims are resistive to rust and will remain at a high quality whilst installed.

Our shim kits are provided with 12 shims in total featuring 4 x 0.5mm, 4 x 1mm and 4 x 2mm. These shims will provide enough adjustment range for a fast good road or track setup but two kits would be required for full race setups. On the 991.2 GT3, GT3RS and GT2RS models camber shims are installed in the front lower arms as standard. This allows for more shims to be inserted to increase negative camber at the adjustable wheels. On all of the above models these shims fit the front lower control arms. The camber shims are easy to install and fit in the standard suspension arms. By loosening off the two lock nuts located under the arm, the camber shims can be installed in the open-end gap and the two nuts retightened. This will increase the length of the arms and increase the camber setting at that wheel. The thicker the shim, the more the camber will increase by.

The standard camber settings on the Porsche GT cars is held back from standard for a number of reasons. The standard settings provide understeer which is effectively a safety factor tuned in to the car by Porsche so that any level of driver buying one of their cars has less chance of crashing them via oversteer. However, if you drive your car fast and have an understanding of the dynamics of a car then you will want your Porsche to not understeer but instead have much more neutral handling. This requires increased front camber which will increase front mid corner grip and improve handling substantially. A common issue with the Porsche GT cars when they are pushed hard is excessive tyre wear on the outside edge of the tyre. This is due to not enough camber being present and the car leaning onto the outer edge of the tyre through the corners. This leads to increased tyre wear on the outer edge, meaning that the tyres are replaced prematurely. With the camber shims installed, the tyre wear is made even, preventing the wear at the outer edge and increasing tyre life if you mostly drive your Porsche hard.
