RTS Performance Twin Friction & Single Mass Flywheel Kit
RTS has developed the ultimate SMF conversion kit & flywheel specifically for the EA888 engine.
RTS unique “Twin Friction” (drive plate) has been developed using a unique flywheel side friction material whilst adopting a segmented pressure plate face. The aramid friction exhibits 50% less wear than a conventional drive plate friction material.
This material also reduces the effects of fade. Fade is the decline in the clutch system’s ability to transmit torque as operating temperatures increases. These features in combination with the previously mentioned micro-structure of spheroidal casting and ER2 technology allows the clutch kit to dissipate heat far more effectively, allowing the clutch to run cooler for longer. RTS kit has been designed with a higher clamp load enabling the clutch system to transmit 60% more torque over the standard clutch kit and is suitable for every day driving, fast road and track/circuit racing whilst maintaining user-friendly driving experience. RTS Twin Friction kit has been designed with a higher clamp load allowing.
THIS KIT IS ONLY TO BE USED WITH RELEASE BEARING PART NO #0A5 141 671S
Which kit do I need?
Twin-Friction (RTSTF-6006SMF)
Suitable for Stock, Stage 1 and Stage 2 tuned vehicles, gives a lighter OEM feel that can be lived with every day.
Rated to 495lb/ft
5 Paddle (RTSPC-6006SMF)
Suitable for Stage 1, Stage 2 and Stage 3 tuning, slightly heavier than the twin friction however still lighter than any other paddle clutches we have driven to date and still could be driven every day.
Rated to 550lb/ft
How does the duel friction material work?
Twin friction features comfortable drivability with more heat durability and better heat dissipation via an integration of organic and metal friction surfaces. RTS twin friction is the ultimate choice for matching practicality with performance driving.

How does a clutch that transfers more torque and has a higher clamping pressure feel lighter?
A retracting strap plate clutch assembly having a single annular body strap plate affixed to a clutch pressure plate has integrally preformed spring resilient tabs mounted to the clutch housing. The tabs are normally spring loaded to retract the strap plate toward the diaphragm spring so that when the clutch is released the tabs cause the pressure plate to smoothly disengage from a friction disc.

RTS Performance Useful Information
Choosing the right Clutch/Friction Setup
Hybrid Technology (HT) friction clutch plates utilize a Raybestos® or ABEX Powertrain proprietary HD friction material and a unique groove pattern to reduce stresses during shifts to keep the components cooler, improve performance and extend the life of every rebuild. HT frictions seamlessly combine the fluid flow dynamics of a segmented friction lining with the strength and durability of a full friction ring to exceed OE expectations.
Hybrid Technology Advantages
- Better-than-OE resistance to extreme heat caused by high-energy loading.
- Smooth shifts and stable performance with no sliding, bumping or chattering.
- Higher torque capacity than conventional high energy materials.
- Low material compression, a critical factor in maintaining piston travel.
- Tight production tolerances for fast, hassle-free installation.
- Excellent distribution of pressure evenly through the clutch.
- Longer clutch and transmission life after rebuild.
RTS Performance Warranty
From 01/12/2019 RTS Europe Ltd will not be accepting any returns of Twin friction Self Adjusting Clutch applications unless proof of the correct SAC alignment tool has been used. (Part no. 400 0237 10)
RTS Europe do not recommend any RTS Twin Friction Clutch kits be installed to a used or old Dual-mass Flywheel (DMF) or Single-mass Flywheel (SMF). Any Twin Friction SAC not installed to a new Flywheel voids any return warranty.
